Nine Folded Vases in a Row.
This page will be edited and updated regularly with Technical information, experiments and notes.
My ceramics are fired usually overnight in a single phase electric top loading drum kiln with an interior space of around 8 square feet and a height of 1.5 metres.
There are two firings, a first fire bisque between 800 degrees to 1000 degrees to prepare the naked clay and a final Stoneware firing to 1260 degrees centrigrade.
Climbing through the ramps at 150 degrees an hour and cool down at the same rate. A normal stoneware firing takes 24 hours to complete from heat up to cool down.
The kiln temperature soaks or sits at the highest temperature for just 20 minutes and that is when all the "magic" happens.
