Chromium & Copper Glaze detail. Lemon Tarn Bowl.
Reflective/High gloss
Copper Oxide Glazed Drip on Vase rim
My glazes are the final finishing touch I add to enhance the surfaces or to waterproof my vessels and bowls. I use my own glaze recipes to bring the form another striking dimension. To create a pooling effect in the bases of my Tarn Bowls. Or to create a reflective wetlook surface on verticals. Glazing enhances my ceramics and I use several different Stoneware glazes. The glazes need to compliment both the form and the feel of the ceramic object.I HAVE NEVER AND WILL NEVER USE MOLTEN GLASS IN MY CERAMICS. I use pure glazes in liquid form for the pooling effect in bases. IF I USED MOLTEN GLASS AT SUCH A HIGH TEMPERATURE I WOULD DAMAGE MY KILN AND THE GLASS WOULD BE NOTHING BUT BLACK AND UGLY.
Opaque matt/light oatmeal
Oxides added in powder form into the clay body.
My unique matt finish leadless opaque stoneware glaze enhances the colour and surface giving the look of velvet or a frosted look. To draw attention to any surface detail and to create a depth of colour.
Or to pull the eye to cracks and minute variations within the ceramic body surface. Light oatmeal adds a velvety soft appearance to the surfaces.
